"Barry, it's not your fault," Derek says gently, squeezing his hand. "She'll be safer away from him, and I'm sure she'll find a home. I know that you'll make sure that she does."

Derek pushes his chair backwards while still holding onto Barry's hand, so that he rolls away from his desk. "Come on, hummingbird. You need a break."

He keeps rolling backwards, inching their chairs closer to the door with a hopeful smile on his face. "I've got a roast in the oven back at the cabin. How about you come home with me, and we'll eat the whole thing, huh? It's my turn to take care of you."
