Derek can't help but to smile as they rush to reassure him, but he knows that while they certainly have had their own fair of struggles, they haven't gone through the types of things that Derek has. But that's a good thing. He doesn't want anyone to suffer like he's suffered. He wants the both of them to have only good things.
