Derek lets out a rumble of agreement as he closes his eyes, enjoying the feeling of her small hand in his fur. Soon he'll get up and trot off, with her being none the wiser, but for now he just soaks in the feeling of closeness and the warmth of another person, and tries not to feel so alone.
