Derek's eyes flash molten gold when the guy says that he doesn't know how to contact his mom. It was a long shot anyway, but he doesn't know what to do. He's never been away from his family like this before, and he doesn't even know how to go about dealing with it. He's not just a boy without his mother. He's also an adolescent wolf without his alpha, and that's sort of terrifying.

"No, I don't. I-- I'm sorry?" Derek swallows hard and goes over to flop down onto the sofa, covering his face with his hands for a moment, just taking a breath like his mother always tells him to do. Nothing makes any sense. He was just at home. Everything was fine. After taking another deep breath and looks up at the other man. At least if he's away from home, he has an alpha. One that's kind to him. "I don't even know your name. I'm obviously missing some stuff. Where am I?"

He looks up with big, glistening eyes, desperate to find out what the hell is going on.
