Luke smiles when Derek thanks him for his help and shakes his head. There's no way he would be able to just let him deal with all this on his own and whenever Derek goes back to being himself -- because that has to be the end game, this city can't just leave him as a sixteen-year-old, his memories all stolen -- he'll understand why Luke had to help him. He may be reluctant to take on the mantle of a pack leader again, he's reluctant to even consider the idea of a pack, but they're friends. Derek is probably the closest friend he has in this city and Luke looks out for his friends.

He knows some of the details of Derek's life, things he could share with him, but there's no point in making him unhappy right now.

"You own a food truck," Luke says. "With a very pretty woman named Helen. You named a burger after me." His entire menu seems to be named after people he likes and Luke finds it charming, a sentiment he's sure is shared by other people who eat there. Hearing someone order his burger for the first time had been a strange experience in how pleased he had been.
