When Derek pulled up even with him, Thomas nodded slightly. A gesture of thanks for not completely leaving him in the dust. He'd keep on running even if Derek had left him behind but it would have sucked. It would have pissed him off.

"There wasn't anything like this where I came from," he shared, swiping some sweat off his forehead with his arm. "Everything was dead and we didn't have a lot of time to take in our surroundings anyway. This is -- "

Thomas looked around, closing his eyes briefly. Opened them again and looked back at Derek. "This is so different. It's alive."
