Derek knows that he's been caught out, but the interesting part is that Thomas doesn't look away. He doesn't seem uncomfortable with the attention and part of that is intriguing, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Derek should be giving it to him. This is all so confusing.

He waits for Thomas to resurface and then laughs, moving a bit so Thomas is between him and the shore. "I just realized that you probably don't have any idea how to actually swim. And yeah, it's nice."

Derek's toes scrape along the sandy bottom and he puts his arms out for balance as the water laps at his collar bones. "Next time we can go to the swimming hole I told you about. The water there is calmer and warmer. And it isn't salty."
