"Derek, it was a shucking joke," Thomas shouted, watching him pull away and having to work to catch up to him. He almost barreled into his back when he realized Derek had come to a sudden stop.

It took him a second to realize why and then he watched, wide eyed, as the deer bolt away.

"Guess we scared them," Thomas remarked, glancing over at Derek before he started jogging again.
